Abstract
As a global public good, knowledge has substantial economic and social value for both developed and developing countries. In a global world, knowledge is evaluated on a global public good within a classification made according to the area in which its externalities spread. In creation and diffusion of global public goods, both governments and international communities have roles, and international governance including voluntary, collaborative actions is required. In this study, crowdfunding is evaluated as a new alternative model for financing public goods. The use of crowdfunding method, especially in the financing of global public goods, may contribute to policy success by increasing policy effectiveness, with the potential to involve all actors in the economy, even individuals.
