Abstract
Active student engagement in the classroom is the most demanding task the teachers across the world are facing today. The lack of concentration, decreasing patience levels, boring teaching styles, and easy access to e-content are a few reasons behind this sorry state of affairs. With today's learning environment becoming more and more student-centric, the teachers are required to adopt innovative teaching pedagogies for better student responsiveness, imbibing critical thinking ability and mental presence in classroom. Such innovative teaching pedagogies are referred to as Interactive Instructional strategies. Still there are several concerns that restrict teachers in adopting these methods in classrooms. This chapter brings to fore the interactive instructional strategies for active student engagement in classroom. The chapter also focuses on the aspects that act as a hindrance in adopting these strategies. In addition, an attempt is made to bring about clarity on the usage of best interactive instructional strategies in various scenarios.
