Abstract
Theory suggests that additional core and infrastructure business activities would inspire additional strategic info systems planning that successively would lead to bigger planning effectiveness. 130 chief info officers in producing firms completed a form concerning the extent that their organization performed core and infrastructure business activities, and applied technical, personnel, and procedures planning. The findings showed that infrastructure activities cause all three styles of planning whereas core activities lead solely to procedures planning. Moreover, they showed that technical planning results in planning effectiveness whereas personnel and procedures planning don't. The findings suggest that future researchers would possibly attempt to uncover the explanations that core activities don't cause additional info systems planning. For practitioners, the findings suggest that managers rethink however their organizations reply to core and infrastructure wants, and whether or not they should modify their info systems planning.
