Abstract

How to effectively utilize and manage tourism resources to achieve sustainable and coordinated development of the environment, economy, and society has become an important topic in tourism research. Taking a tourism city in southwestern China as the background, this study conducts an empirical study on the suitability evaluation of tourism development. Through quantitative spatial analysis, the suitability of tourism development in the region is evaluated from multiple aspects. The results indicate that the region performs outstandingly in tourism resource abundance and tourist reception capacity. There is still room for improvement in public service facilities. The government's support, as a major factor in socio-economic conditions indicators, plays an important role in the development of regional tourism. A resource integration development model, optimization and coordination model, and guided development model are proposed. The implementation of these models requires the joint efforts and cooperation of the government, tourism development investors, and other relevant parties.
