Motivation is considered as a key factor for an organization's success. Employers and employees have key roles in implementing motivation theories and strategies in a project. Several motivation theories and strategies were established to increase the level of effort, which will lead to better performance. This study addresses the most important motivation theories that are related to project-based environment through a literature review. This study then evaluates some motivation theories by discussing the main issues and providing suggestions in how to eliminate these issues. Cultural, social, and pace of life issues of the motivation theories are discussed in this study, and the solution is proposed. Also, another literature review is performed to study how the variables, concepts, and models in acquired skill and management strategies help in project management. This study's findings can contribute greatly to the fields of engineering management, project management, and industrial engineering.
