Abstract
Purpose:
The purpose of this short essay was to provide a perspective as an early career speech-language pathologist, who recently completed a voice- and upper airway–specific Clinical Fellowship.
Conclusions:
Reminding myself of my “why” as I faced roadblocks along the journey, finding community, and leaning into the identities/experiences that made me a unique candidate and clinician within the world of voice were valuable lessons learned in my pursuit to enter the profession. I hope the field of voice science and medicine will acknowledge the need to seek out clinicians of diverse backgrounds in our efforts to make voice care accessible for all.
