Abstract
Cerebrospinal fluid pressure and consequently perilymphatic fluid pressure was increased 5, 10, and 15 cm Hg above normal in 13 cats. With increasing pressure the CM pseudo-threshold showed a progressive impairment. This decrease in CM response was greatest at low frequencies. CM input-output functions indicated that with increasing pressure there is a progressive decrease in the linear range of the CM reponse and also a possible decrease in maximum amplitude. Results are discussed in terms of possible mechanical alterations within the cochlea which might produce the observed changes in CM response.
