Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between psychological contract perception and motivation. In addition, determining the effect of psychological contract on motivation constitutes the other purpose of the study. When the literature is examined, it is striking that the number of studies between the two concepts is low. It is thought that this study will contribute to the literature. In this descriptive study, quantitative research method was used and it was carried out in 2021 with the participation of academic staff working at Yozgat Bozok University. Simple random sampling method was chosen in the study, and a questionnaire was applied to 295 people who agreed to participate in the study. The Psychological Contract Scale developed by Demirkasimoğlu (2012) and the Multidimensional Work Motivation Scale developed by Çivilidağ and Şekercioğlu (2017) were used as data collection tools. The Psychological Contract Scale consists of two dimensions, relational and operational, and 22 questions. The Multidimensional Work Motivation Scale consists of six dimensions and 18 questions: personal regulation, external regulation (material), external regulation (social), non-motivation, introjected regulation, and intrinsic motivation. According to the findings obtained from the research, it was determined that there were significant relationships between psychological contract and its sub-dimensions and motivation and sub-dimensions. In addition, it was concluded that psychological contract has a significant effect on motivation sub-dimensions. According to the results of the study, it was found that the concept of motivation is related to the psychological contract and the motivation of the employee is dependent on the psychological contract. In line with the results obtained from the research, suggestions were made to the field of organizational behavior.
