Análisis de la producción de aguacate en el Ecuador y su exportación a mercados internacionales en el periodo 2008 al 2018

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the production and export of avocado in Ecuador from 2008 to 2018 and its importance in the economy. The scope of the research is exploratory, descriptive and non-experimental; a comprehensive search for information related to the production, imports and exports of avocado and its importance in the national economy was conducted by collecting secondary information from historical databases and, as a complement, the application of the mean difference method. Avocado exports generated 350 million dollars in 2018, for its part the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock promotes its production, above all, as an ideal item for crop diversification, it is a new alternative to boost the peasant economy. Avocado exports have had variations by external and internal factors that occur in the economy so in the period from 2011 to 2015 had a drop in exports, but in the last five years has grown steadily and it has entered more producers to offer as global demand grows by 10% each year. Ecuador can become a highly competitive country in avocado exports in the coming years, if new markets are opened.
