EVALUATION OF NUTRITIONAL HABITS IN WOMEN OVER EIGHTY YEARS OLD WITHOUT CHRONIC DISEASE: A QUALITATIVE STUDY

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the nutritional habits of women over the age of eighty who do not have a chronic disease. The sample of the study, designed in accordance with the qualitative research method, consisted of seventeen women over the age of eighty living in Tekirdağ. In collecting data; "Semi-structured interview form" prepared by using "personal information form" and literature was used. The data were collected by in-depth interview method. According to the results obtained in the study, there is determined that the majority of individuals over the age of eighty consume three main and two snacks a day, eat fruit every day, consume dairy products, and use homemade products. In this context, we propose to raise awareness in the society about healthy and balanced nutrition, consumption of vegetables and fruits in season instead of ready-made food consumption and the use of homemade products.
