DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR BUDESONIDE ESTIMATION IN NASAL SPRAY FORMULATIONS

Abstract

The objective of the present research work was to develop and validate UV-spectrophotometric method for estimation of budesonide in nasal spray formulations. Budesonide was estimated at wavelength 243 nm. Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 10-100μg/mL (R2 = 0.997). The apparent molar absorptivity was found to be 1.72×104 L⋅mol−1⋅cm−1. The method was validated according to the International Conference on Harmonization guideline Q2 (R1). The developed method was successfully applied for estimation of budesonide in commercially available nasal spray formulations. The results demonstrated that the method is accurate, precise and reproducible e (RSD < 1 %), while being simple, cheap and less time consuming.
