Abstract
The energy consumption system of any country, with any type of government, is the basis of national security and a resource for socio-economic development. Creating such a system and ensuring its effective functioning is a complex task, including economic, technical, technological, managerial and political aspects. The object of study is the energy consumption system of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. Methods of work – methods of statistical analysis, analysis of scientific literature, analysis of materials provided by government agencies and organizations of the energy sector of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and Internet sources were used. The article is devoted to the analysis of the energy consumption system in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire in order to find mechanisms for the sustainable development of the country's energy sector. The features of the republic's energy consumption are shown in terms of such indicators as primary energy production, energy consumption in households, final energy consumption by sectors of activity and the total volume of energy consumption. It was determined that the most significant features are, firstly, the predominance of biomass energy in providing the primary needs of the population in cooking and heating; secondly, the high dependence of the rural population on wood fuel; thirdly, the reason why households choose woodfuel is poverty. The limitations of the energy consumption system that the country is facing are shown, such as the lack of a financing mechanism and plan, poverty, low levels of education and ineffective legal instruments. The scope of the results obtained – the materials contained in the scientific study can be used by executive authorities that carry out the functions of developing and implementing state policy in the energy sector and preparing proposals for the formation of an energy supply system that is more consistent with the sustainable development goals of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, including overcoming poverty while maintaining the energy security of the country. The recovery of the global economy after the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the goals of the "green transition" will require resources, for which the economy of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire must be prepared
