China-Taiwan Tug of War in the WTO

Abstract

Although Taiwan expects interactions with China to occur under the WTO framework, China has developed a strategy of a WTO framework with one-China gestures. This is to make a statement that Taiwan customs territory is in fact China's separate customs territory and to avoid acquiescing in the view that Taiwan has a legal standing within the WTO.
