WHY IS ASEAN DIPLOMACY CHANGING? From ““Non-Interference”” to ““Open and Frank Discussions””

Abstract

Abstract A conventional/rationalist explanation holds that the ASEAN countries have begun to have open and frank discussions in order to deal with new challenges, such as economic and environmental issues, in an efficient way. Constructivists explain ASEAN's change by focusing on the global normative shift, which emphasizes human rights and democracy.
