Abstract
Progressing development and urbanisation brings with it an increasing risk of fire. Accordingto Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 and its universal assumptions theconcept of fire risk reduction in operational area of Rescue and Firefighting Unit 9 of the WarsawMunicipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service was presented. Using the database of State FireService the profile of fire events occurring in this area in 2021 was determined. By analysing thecauses of fires in urban areas and using own operational experience, conclusions were presentedthat were used to formulate guidelines for reducing the risk of fires.
