Abstract
Abstract
The aim of this study was to identify the optimal parameters for electrical discharge machining of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy using copper tungsten electrodes with tungsten compositions of 70% and 80%, respectively. The experiment involved varying current, pulse on time, and duty factor were determined using the Taguchi experimental method L-18 orthogonal arrays. The level of importance of each machining parameter on material removal rate (MRR) was determined using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and the optimal machining parameter combination was obtained using the analysis of signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio. The results showed that a Cu30/W70% electrode performed the best in terms of MRR, electrode wear, and surface roughness. The optimal machining conditions for achieving maximum MRR were found to be a current of 30 A, a pulse on time of 50 μs, and a duty factor of 40%.
