Abstract
Abstract
A considerable amount of aluminum oxide particles are generally produced during the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) combustion. A project determining the damage caused by slag impact on spacecrafts in orbit is drafted to acquire physical property data of SRM slag by JAXA. After the grand firing test of small SRMs, all slag was collected and analyzed. This study describes the investigation results regarding the characteristics of SRM slag and the current possible scenario of the slag particle formation process.
