Defluorination of groundwater by low-cost adsorbents

Abstract

Abstract India is among nation higher in percentage suffer s from fluorosis through consumption of groundwater. Fluoride content in natural water has become a major issue in major parts of the world and should be in 0.6 to 1.5 mg/l. Investigations in the removal of fluoride content have been carried in various techniques. This paper speaks on treating fluoride content and to utilize it as drinking water at low-cost techniques by natural adsorbents for a sustainable environment. In this process adsorption time effects, concentration of fluoride at varied adsorbent dosage with maintained temperature are studied. Adsorbents such as dry ginger powder, spinach, turmeric powder, orange peel powder were used.
