Cross-sectional texture of sago fiber due to liquid smoke treatment

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to show the texture cross-section of the sago fiber after treatment of liquid smoke. Sago fiber was soaked in a container filled by liquid smoke then heated at 43 °C for 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hours. SEMs were carried out to observe the treatments results on the surface of fiber. The results showed that fiber texture before treatment was covered by lignin layers, but after treatments, the fiber had a cross-sectional changes in form of visible pores formations on the fiber textures, distinguished by the soaking periods.
