Research on the State Equation of High-Pressure Expansion Process of Liquid Hydrogen

Abstract

Abstract Liquid hydrogen, characterized by high purity, efficient storage and transportation, and renewable clean energy, has become a crucial component in the efficient utilization of energy. A profound understanding of the thermodynamic properties of the high-pressure expansion process of liquid hydrogen plays a significant role in the utilization of hydrogen energy, the development of liquid hydrogen booster pumps, and the implementation of liquid hydrogen-related projects. In this paper, starting from the perspective of the state equation, we conduct research on the large-scale high-pressure expansion process of liquid hydrogen. Several commonly used state equations are employed to calculate the PVT (Pressure-Volume-Temperature) values of this process, and appropriate modifications and combinations are made to improve the accuracy of the state equations. The advantages and disadvantages of the different equations of state for each pressure range and the causes of errors are further discussed based on the standard values given in the NIST database, and some suggestions are made for the improvement of the equations of state and the design of liquid hydrogen-related equipment.
