Pump performance improvement using DMAIC method for industrial application

Abstract

Abstract In recent years, regenerative model pumps have become more interested in various commercial processes. Havells India Limited Produces regenerative water pumps which is mostly used in domestic application. Duration of assembly of regenerative water pump we found from the quality supervisors and production monthly data, a self-priming mono block regenerative pump (M1 model) have jamming issue. Due to this jamming of pump rejection is 20% of monthly production which is a major problem. For solving this problem, two techniques are used. The result of the project was to reduce the overall refusal rate in the production line from 20% to 2%, which enabled the production line to meet demand-using DMAIC. This analysis presents the current product improvement based on the DMAIC approach as a preferential method for defect identification and process improvement using various statistical tools such as the Cause and Effect Diagram.
