Contemporary analysis of Krasnoyarsk environmental problems

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of the article is to analyze modern environmental situation in Krasnoyarsk. Industrialization, which started during the war, didn’t take into consideration ecological question. Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Smelter and the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station negatively affected the city ecology. Besides, the increasing number of transport also produces environmental discharge in great amount. According to the research of total index of atmospheric layer air pollution five top priority pollutants are at their critical level. Benzapyrene, formaldehyde, suspended substance, nitrogen dioxide and hydrogen nitride mainly influence city air. Urgent measures must be taken to solve Krasnoyarsk environmental problems. The industries have to recycle and dispose hazardous waste, bituminous coal plants should be converted to gas, motor transport should be transferred to environmentally friendly fuel, and a green belt round Krasnoyarsk should be created. A document of intentions to improve the ecological situation in Krasnoyarsk has already been adopted, and the process of fulfilling it has already started. Otherwise, if situation isn’t changed, life-threatening consequences are inevitable.
