Abstract
The Cr3+ activated Mg0.388Al2.408O4 phosphor was synthesized by sol-gel and high temperature solid phase method in the air at 1400°C for 6h. The phosphors structure was measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD); excitation spectra, emission spectra and decay lifetime were obtained by fluorescence spectrophotometer equipped. It showed that the sample has two strong broad absorption ranging from 390nm to 420nm and 530nm to 590nm, and the peak positions are around 407nm and 552nm; the maximum of the red emission which is due to the transition from the 2Eg(2G) excited state to the 4A2g ground state is at 688 nm. And the lifetime of Cr3+ in the Mg0.388Al2.408O4 host is 4.8255ms.
