Abstract

Abstract Ozone can be used to break down lignin and hemicellulose in many lignocellulosic materials. Ozone pre-treatment has the following advantages: it effectively removes lignin; as a result of such pre-treatment, toxic products are not formed for the subsequent process; the reaction is carried out at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The purpose of this work is to study the effects of ozone on the surface of natural and thermally modified wood. Thermal treatment is an environmentally friendly method that allows you to change the color and performance properties of wood. This article analyses the effect of ozonation of the surface of natural and thermally modified wood in order to increase the adhesive properties during bonding. Thus, a more economical consumption of glue and a reduction in the emission of harmful volatile substances into the environment are possible.
