Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this project is to develop the measurement instrument of cutting force for turning tool post using strain gauge and Arduino. The forces developed when the tools are in contact with the work pieces are captured and transformed into the numerical form system. The captured cutting force signal were then amplified, undergo signal conditioning and converted to digital signals to be read by Arduino. After calibration tests on the x and y directions, with calculations, the corresponding force readings are obtained and displayed for real time monitoring. The results obtained proved its reliability and effectiveness for measuring cutting forces and displayed on a PC for monitoring purposes.
