Abstract
Abstract
The planar flow of a viscoelastic fluid is studied in tapered channel (confusor) with different contraction rates (2:1, 4:1, 6:1). A polymer melt is considered as a specific liquid, rheological behaviour is described using the four mode Giesekus model. The effect of the contraction rate of a confusor on the axial velocity profiles and the components of normal and shear stresses is investigated. Approbation of numerical studies was carried out by means of the example of the planar flow of a viscoelastic fluid in a channel with abrupt contraction.
