Abstract

Abstract In order to discuss the effect of different outer liner material on the performance of the double cylinder-cone shaped charge, the nonlinear dynamics software Autodyn-2D was used to carry out numerical simulation, and the jet shape and penetration of steel target were analysed when copper, nickel, tungsten, tantalum and steel were used as outer liner materials and copper was used as inner cover material. The result shows that the jet head is formed by the cylindrical part of the inner liner, and all the outer liner forms a slug. The total length of the projectile is the longest when the outer liner material is copper. The jet head velocities are the biggest when the outer liner materials are nickel and steel 4340. The shaped charge with copper outer liner yields much longer depths.
