Abstract
Abstract
The recent study presented the structural and optical features of Sm-doped magnesium borate. The X-ray diffraction pattern displays the crystal structure of the prepared sample which matches with the JCPDS card. The morphological studies, elemental analysis, and vibrational properties were examined by SEM, EDX, and FTIR measurements. The TL emission spectra of pure magnesium borate phosphors show only one peak at 209°c, and doped phosphors show an intense peak at 212°c. The PL excitation (PLE) spectrum of the MgB4O7: Sm samples was observed at a wavelength range of 330 – 475 nm. The maximum sharp line is detected nearly at 407 nm that corresponds to ions Sm3+ transition of 6H5/2 → 4K11/2 and the PL emission of the intense line was measured at a wavelength of 612 nm due to the significant excitation of Sm3+ ions from 4G5/2 to 6H7/2. In addition, the bonding behavior of synthesized phosphors was determined by Raman spectroscopy.
