Abstract
Abstract
The aim of the work is to replace the criterion of the original Mohr – Coulomb criterion with an empirical plasticity condition in which the limit state arises at deformation εlim<15 %. As a result of the analysis of experimental data on testing soils by triaxial compression, an empirical plasticity criterion is obtained. The limiting state by the empirical criterion occurs when the sample is deformed by 10–12%. The shear stresses calculated by this plasticity condition exceed the shear stresses calculated by the Mohr – Coulomb criterion. Therefore, the application of the proposed criterion in the calculation of pavement by shear resistance in the soil of the subgrade requires an increase in the thickness of the structural layers, compared with the traditional calculation, which is based on Mohr – Coulomb.
