Improvement of Grid-connected Reactive Power Compensation for Wind Farms Based on STATCOM

Abstract

Abstract Due to the recent rapid development of wind power generation, people have higher requirements for the stability of wind power systems. The randomness and intermittency of wind farms are strong. When the system is disturbed, or the line fails, it is easy to cause voltage instability. In order to ensure the stable operation of the power system, it is necessary to set up a static reactive power compensation device (STATCOM) to provide reactive power in the power system. This paper simulates and analyzes the wind power generation system with a STATCOM device. The results show that the operation process of the wind power system with STATCOM is more stable.
