Abstract
In this paper an energetic analysis for the application of a concentric magnetic gearbox (MG) have been carried out. MGs are able to work without contact to minimize acoustic noise and frictions with the advantage of reducing maintenance and increasing the global efficiency of the system. Concentric MGs are useful to a wide range of industrial applications, including renewable energetic systems and electric vehicles. Preliminary studies about this kind of device have been performed by using Finite Element Method (FEM) 3-D and the resulting data have been applied to build a laboratory prototype able to give the first data in terms of power and torque transmitted. Experimental tests have been carried varying the rpm and obtaining the trend of the efficiency, power and torque transmitted. Moreover, the acquired data have been carried out to analyse the energetic and mechanical behaviour of the magnetic transmission.
