Development of podcasts as educational media based on local wisdom

Abstract

Abstract One form of digital technology that has developed in the millennial generation is Podcast. Podcasting/Podcast is etymologically derived from the words iPod and Broadcasting, while the definition of Podcast is literally, a recorded audio file in MP3 format which is distributed over the internet. Podcasts can be a driving force for societal change, where there are themes that can change people’s mindsets to be more open and advanced. In accordance with the theory of technological determination, society is not only influenced by the content but also by the media. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with research instruments using structured interviews in the form of a questionnaire. Data are also obtained from literature reviews related to the object of the study through library research, namely literature review. The results showed a positive response from the respondents. Besides that, the development of Podcast media was also proven to be able to produce better knowledge due to repetition of information related to the material in question. Learning about culture/wisdom through Podcasts is considered feasible and effective, especially with the waning conditions of cultural values, a result of the era of globalization and the development of information technology.
