Abstract
A design theory of a power-cycling variable transmission (PCVT) system with improved transmission efficiency and continuously variable transmission characteristics was proposed for preserving the characteristics of transmission types such as the friction, hydrodynamic, and hydraulic drives. This study expounds on the structure and working principle of PCVT, analyzes its main characteristics, and describes its unique performance through a series of design examples.
