Abstract
Abstract
This paper studied the effects of different whiskers on the thermal stability of environmentally friendly and energy-saving building composites by exploring the strengthening mechanism of calcium carbonate whiskers on the thermal stability and mechanical properties of the composites. The results show calcium carbonate whiskers can significantly improve composites’ mechanical properties by reducing the matrix’s micro cracks. When the content of calcium carbonate whisker is 6%, the composite’s tensile strength and water absorption are increased by 43.7% and 25.1%, respectively. In addition, calcium carbonate whiskers have high thermal stability when the content is lower than 65 °C. Therefore, it can be proven that adding calcium carbonate whiskers within this temperature range can significantly enhance the thermal stability of environmentally friendly and energy-saving building composites.
