Abstract
Abstract
The crash box’s internal structure can be designed to absorb more energy in a significant way. Using the finite element method, this paper investigates a structure with a negative Poisson ratio and a self-torsion effect. The arrangement and combination of eight structures have a torsional Poisson ratio that is negative. The optimal energy absorption of LCHC-B structures, as determined by simulation analysis, results in an excellent performance. Due to structural asymmetry, the LCHC-B structure has large deformation characteristics and self-torsion, making the structure’s displacement greater than that of the conventional negative Poisson ratio structure and exhibiting excellent energy absorption properties.
