Abstract
Abstract
Most modern tank guns are high bore pressure smooth-bore guns that often use High Explosive Antiarmor (HEAA) projectile in combat. This paper focuses on the coupled smoothbore gun- HEAA projectile system, and analyses the projectile ramming-band engraving process when a tank fires HEAA projectile. First, a finite element mesh model of the coupling dynamics of a large-calibre tank gun smoothbore barrel and HEAA projectile was established, and the band was discretized by using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method based on the Lagrange mesh. Then, the propellant gas pressure acting on the bore and the base of the projectile was defined by ABAQUS user’s subroutine. Finally, the ramming-engraving process simulations were carried out for the ramming residual stress and strain, ramming tilt and different ramming misalignment distances working conditions respectively. According to the simulation results, the effect of different ramming initial states on the band engraving process was obtained. The conclusion provides some reference for the simulation of the band engraving process.
