Abstract
Abstract
We propose the novel, Kurosawa-like, easy-to-use method to calculate the optical properties of the periodical photonic structures. We start from the experimental transmittance data for the aluminium-oxide-based mesoporous photonic crystal film, and simulate its reflectance, dispersion law and the group velocity of light propagated in the film. We established the anomalous speed-of-light deceleration at the photonic bandgaps edges. The good theory-to-experiment agreement allows to use our technique for the various photonic applications
