Effect of Different Current Excitation on Joule Heating of Four-Rail Electromagnetic Launcher

Abstract

Abstract Joule heat generated by current excitation during the operation of electromagnetic launcher is the main source of heat generation in electromagnetic launcher. Using the finite element method, the electromagnetic force and Joule heat generated by current excitation of different waveforms are simulated and analyzed with the help of MAXWELL software. The simulation results show that the Joule heat generated during the operation of the electromagnetic launcher can be effectively mitigated by extending the rising edge and falling edge time of the current excitation under the premise that the electromagnetic force meets the emission requirements.
