Dynamic modeling of shaping-changing cross parachute

Abstract

Abstract The research explored the dynamic simulation of a cross parachute as an actuator, and proposed a method for dynamic modeling to adjust the configuration of the cross parachute. Initially, based on the method of multi-body dynamics modeling, a coordinate system necessary for system simulation was established. Subsequently, by incorporating the changing configuration parameters as input, a dynamic simulation model of the cross parachute with adjustable configuration was developed. Dynamic simulations were executed for the suggested model under two scenarios: changing configuration and symmetric configuration. The simulation results indicated that the parachute with changing configuration could generate radial forces related to the inflow velocity, with the force significantly increasing as the inflow velocity increased. The modeling approach offers a new perspective for the study of the dynamics of using a cross parachute as a control actuator, while the simulation results provide a degree of reference for research into the control force offered by a variable configuration cross parachute.
