Abstract
Abstract
Passive optical networks (PONs) with the integration of multiple channels are the high capacity systems to cater the large number of channels in order to fulfill demands of internet applications. To realize a crosstalk suppressed and cost effective system, an integrated multi channel PON for mitigation of the crosstalk between upstream and downstream channels using different pulse shapes such as Return to zero (RZ), non RZ (NRZ), compressed spectrum RZ (CSRZ), Differential phase shift keying (DPSK) is proposed. Use of reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) has been proposed for upstream modulation to make system cost efficient. 2-channel downstream and 2-channel upstream wavelengths are used to exhibits total symmetrical data rate of 10 Gbps. Results revealed that proposed system can support 10 Gbps data rate up to 20 km
