Abstract
In the grinding process, a high speed rotating grinding wheel develops a stiff air barrier around it. This air barrier restricts the flow of incoming grinding fluid through a nozzle jet into the grinding zone, and this leads to a considerable amount of grinding fluid being wasted. An insufficient amount of grinding fluid from the nozzle jet not reaching the grinding wheel-workpiece contact zone will result in many defects in the workpiece as well as in the grinding wheel. In this paper, a unique method of air scraper is modelled and simulated in order to impinge the grinding fluid maximum through a thick boundary layer around the periphery of the rotating grinding wheel and the effect of grinding parameters are analyzed and Ugff rate equation established using Box Behnken Design method.
