Abstract
Abstract
The efficiency of hard carbon coatings with different structure to improve the tribological performance of contacting surfaces of machine parts working in heavily loaded conditions has been analyzed. The possibility of increasing the antifriction and wear-resistant characteristics of these coatings by doping them with metals of the chromium subgroup of the Periodic table has been demonstrated. The possible mechanisms of hard carbon coatings dry and boundary friction tribological properties improvement by alloying have been considered. The possible role of alloying elements choice, structural and tribochemical factors has been discussed.
