Lightning strikes are a major problem wind power plants face during thunderstorm season. The frequent lightning trips of the collector line, much equipment damage, and high power loss bring great hidden dangers to the safe operation of the wind farm. Combined with the current situation of a wind farm in the Duolei area, western Sichuan, this paper carried out lightning strike overvoltage simulation analysis on the hybrid collector line based on ATP-EMTP, respectively discussed the characteristics of lightning strike overvoltage of the collector line and the collector line under the lightning strike tower and carried out in-depth analysis on the weak lightning protection of the hybrid collector line. The corresponding protection suggestions for different types of lightning strikes have been put forward.
