Thermal Analysis and Static Lubrication Performance Study of Liquid Metal Journal Bearing

Abstract

Abstract The temperature distribution of liquid metal journal bearing system in X-ray tube of medical CT machine was simulated by using simulation software, and the working temperature of the herringbone groove liquid metal journal bearing was initially determined. On this basis, the lubricating properties of the liquid metal lubricant were analyzed. The lubrication model of herringbone groove liquid metal journal bearing with Galinstan liquid metal as lubricant was established, and the influence of herringbone groove structure parameters on the static lubrication performance of liquid metal journal bearings was analyzed. The results show that the Galinstan liquid metal has good high temperature stability and can act as a reliable lubricant in the high temperature working environment of the medical CT machine X-ray tube.
