Abstract
Abstract
In this study, PANI thin film has been fabricated and applied as an active ingredient for alcohol sensors with different types and concentrations of alcohol. The method used is electrodeposition potentiostat with ITO as the working electrode. The PANI thin film was successfully synthesized at a constant potential of -0.4 V to +0.8 V at a scan rate of 100 mV/s. The method of determining the sensor's sensitivity is done by measuring the change in resistance of the PANI thin film using a Four Point Probe (FPP). Morphological results using SEM from PANI showed the shape of nanoparticles with an interconnected-sponge structure with a grain size of 35.28 nm. The results of sensor sensing measurements based on PANI for variations in concentration and different types of alcohol show that the sensor response to methanol gas is more significant when compared to ethanol and butanol gases. It has been proven that the PANI thin film can detect alcohol at small concentrations (5 ppm). The sensitivity value of the sensor indicates that the higher the alcohol concentration used, the higher the sensitivity.
