Numerical Study on Particle Movement and Crushing Characteristics in Vibromill

Abstract

Abstract In order to optimize the eccentric vibromill to reduce the energy-depleted area and improve the grinding efficiency, the present paper employed the software EDEM to investigate the characteristics of movement and breakup of the grinding materials in an eccentric vibromill under different vibration frequencies and amplitude. The results indicate that the cylinder vibrates continuously at a high frequency under harmonic excitation force. A prominent dynamic rotating center is formed in the dielectric grinding chamber, which changes with the vibration frequency and amplitude. During the mixing process of grinding media and materials, the mixing speed of materials increases with amplitude. However, when the amplitude is too large, some materials are thrown to the edge of the grinding chamber, which reduces the mixing uniformity.
