We inspect the exclusive hadronic decay modes B
d
→ ϕ(η
(′), π, ω), induced by quark-level transitions such as b → d (ΔS = 0) in the vector-like down quark model. These decay modes exhibit high levels of suppression followed by the predicted branching fraction
O
(

−
9
)
which leads us to scrutinize physics beyond the standard model. We constrain the new parameter space inferred from experimental limits to the leptonic B
d
→ ℓℓ(ℓ = e, μ, τ) and nonleptonic decay modes B
d
→ η′π
0 and B
u
→ ρ
−
η′. We then check that the new physics contributions have a significant impact on the clearly observed so-called branching ratio of the B
d
→ ϕ(η
(′), π, ω) processes.
