Abstract
The dynamics and stability of continuous-waves in a K-order complex nonlinear transparent media for passively mode-locked lasers with fast saturable absorbers is theoretically and systematically studied. The Benjamin modulational-instability techniques was used, assuming that in the mode-locked regime, the laser will find full expression just after the continuous-waves (cws) become unstable. A global analysis of the operation regimes are established. The model is described by a K-order term generated by K-photon ionization processes of a complex Ginzburg-Landau (CGL) equation, and plasma generation coupled to a first order differential Drude’s equation for the electron plasma density with electron-hole radiative recombination effects. Basis conditions were established for various stability regime for cw. From this, we observed that an increase in the number of photon rate K induced self-starting for normal dispersion regime. We were also able to establish that an increase in the laser input field intensity which essentially favored the self-starting laser process.
