Abstract
We apply the Wahlquist-Estabrook prolongation method to a coupled KdV system proposed by Kamata and Nakamula [J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 35(2002) 9657-70]. Under the assumption that the center is trivial, we prove that there exists no non-trivial finite-dimensional representation for the prolongation algebra. In this sense, the nonintegrability of the coupled KdV system is proved.
