Abstract
Abstract
In this study, we introduce a new structure of micro-pattern gaseous detector, named
proportional counter array (PCa). The standard Printed Circuit Board (PCB) process, which is
cost-effective and easy to scale up, is used to manufacture the PCa prototypes. Both simulation
and experimental studies were performed to characterise the prototypes, which demonstrated
promising performance in terms of gas gain, rate capability, and ion backflow suppression. The
prospects of the PCa technology are also discussed.
